CORONAVIRUS
COVID-19 UPDATES

Current status:  CLOSED

It is with great sadness that we write this letter -a letter that we hoped we would never have to write.

As you all know, we had to transition to online classes halfway through our school year last March. This pandemic has been and continues to be a hardship in many people’s lives in many different ways. Ever since this began in March, we have seen a significant number of students leave, and we know leaving was a difficult decision for these families. These last weeks we have received even more unexpected withdrawals and it has left the school with limited options to move forward. Additionally, the concerns about the risks of COVID and the increasingly unsafe conditions of the school’s surroundings -including Gilman Park, has forced us to reflect very carefully about the best option moving forward to ensure the safety of our staff, students, and their families.

Therefore, it is with deep and heartfelt sorrow that we have to inform that Zoom Language, after having served the community for over a decade, will close for the foreseeable future. This has been the hardest decision we have ever had to make, and we have spent the past several months working tirelessly to try and avoid having to make it.

The teachers, staff, children, and their families have been a loyal and caring community in Ballard over the years, and we have prided ourselves in delivering high-quality, language immersion education to those who see the immeasurable value of learning a beautiful second language such as Spanish. We believe it has brought out the best in each student and it has empowered them with important life skills they will continue to use for the rest of their lives. Beyond that, we have been lucky enough to be a part of each child’s life in their individual journey of education and personal growth. We have witnessed so many wonderful moments in our time together, and as we write this letter we can’t help but stop to reminisce on all the many memories we have shared with you all.

Our greatest hope moving forward is for all of us to remain healthy and strong through these uncertain times, and to make it out of the pandemic with newfound strength and resilience of spirit. We are truly going to miss you all.
