Maestra Casey has been studying Spanish now for over nine years and has been teaching full time at Zoom Playschool & Summer camps for three years. She has lived in Costa Rica and Spain where she built her fluency going to University and living with local families. She lived in Costa Rica for a year where she studied Spanish and Early childhood education at University in San Jose. She also studied in Spain where she finished her bachelors’ degree participating in an intensive Spanish language and culture program.. She graduated from the Evergreen State College where she focused her degree on Spanish and Bilingual Education. She is very passionate about teaching, and enjoys sharing music, stories and movement/dance with her students. Casey has helped build a strong Playschool curriculum and is constantly researching for new class material & meaningful activities.
Maestra Liliana is a native from Mexico, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts. She has been a bilingual Kindergarten and Pre-K teacher in Texas, where she obtained her Teaching Certificate. One of her passions is teaching young children how to speak, write and read in Spanish. Liliana enjoys seeing the smiles of triumph and satisfaction on her students’ faces every time they accomplish a task, and this is something that she strives to achieve year after year. Her personal belief is that life is a learning process, and she wants to make this process meaningful and fun for her students.
Maestra Gely has been a bilingual Pre-school teacher for over 30 years. She holds a B.A. in Early Education and a M.A. in Educational Psychology. She has focused for the last 10 years on developing bilingual educational programs for schools in Mexico, and researching second language acquisition. She has developed our Playschool program and has co- developed class activities for all Zoom age groups. She has always been passionate about teaching young children with economical and emotional challenges, and has participated in the educational programs in many small villages in Mexico. Before moving to Seattle, Gely had her own family & child counseling practice.
Maestra Erica is from Olympia, WA although she has lived in many places including the Persian Coast, Argentina and Chile. She majored in Elementary Education and Spanish at Western Washington University, where she also studied abroad in Cordoba and Argentina. She completed her one year student teaching and another year of teaching preschool bilingual education in Chile. She joined Zoom the summer of 2009. Erica is pursuing her masters in Multicultural Education combining two of her favorite things!
Maestra Katie graduated in June 2008 from the University of California, San Diego, with a degree in International Studies and Environmental Studies. During her time at UCSD, she spent a semester studying at La Universidad de Concepcion, Chile. While there, she travelled in Peru and Argentina. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Education program at the University of Washington. Katie has been part of Zoom since 2008.
Kaela graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA with a BFA in Design and a focus on Illustration. Her illustrative style is inspired by her love for children, animals, and all things cute!
Jenny has been managing the office since January 2009. She first developed a love for the Spanish language while traveling in Central America in 1997. In 2005 she went to Mexico where she lived for two years, giving her the opportunity to greatly improve her use of the language. Along with Spanish, Jenny has had a life-long passion for children, leading her to study Elementary Education at Eastern Washington University. Aside from the office, she loves the opportunity to assist in the classroom or fill-in when teachers are out.
And last but not least Frida (our doggy), our very cute Head of Security... Frida is allowed only in the office under care of the office manager. She has no history of aggression and has been at the center since she was a puppy.
